The pilot of the tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that he landed on the first 1/3 of the 1,000-foot-long private, grass airstrip, he applied heavier braking toward the end of the runway. The main landing gear, "dug into a soft/muddy spot" and the airplane nosed over.
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the right wing and vertical stabilizer.
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
