Accident Overview
On September 7, 2019, at approximately 1000 central daylight time, a Champion 7KCAB airplane, registration N4136Y, struck a tree during landing on runway 36 at Williams Flying Service Airport (6LA6), near Winnsboro, Louisiana. The runway was turf, measuring 3,000 ft in length and 75 ft in width. The commercial pilot and a passenger reported no injuries. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the wing and fuselage.

The airplane was registered to an individual and operated by the pilot under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. The local flight departed from 6LA6 about 0930. Day visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident, and no flight plan was filed.
Pilot Report
According to the pilot, during the landing touchdown on the runway, the airplane bounced once, followed by a "normal" touchdown on the main landing gear wheels. Subsequently, the airplane veered left off the runway centerline. The pilot applied right rudder, which had "no effect." After full right rudder was applied, the airplane slowed "considerably" but continued veering left. It then impacted a tree, resulting in substantial damage. The pilot stated there were no mechanical malfunctions with the airplane.
