Incident Overview
A pilot reported that during landing, shortly after touchdown, a wind gust lifted the right wing of the airplane, causing it to veer to the left. The pilot attempted to correct the deviation by applying control inputs and adding power to maintain directional control. Despite these efforts, the airplane departed the runway to the left and struck a drainage ditch.
Damage Assessment
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the fuselage as a result of the impact with the drainage ditch.
Pilot Report
The pilot reported that there were no mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation. The event was attributed solely to the wind gust encountered during the landing roll.
