Accident Summary
The accident occurred during the landing roll on a 2,800 ft concrete runway. The pilot reported touching down approximately 1,000 ft from the runway threshold.
Pilot Report
According to the pilot, the ground speed was fast after landing. He applied the brakes, but as the airplane approached the end of the runway, he applied more pressure to the brakes. The airplane then exited the left side of the runway, where the nose landing gear strut failed. The airplane came to rest about 25 ft from the left side of the runway, on soft grass. The pilot additionally stated that he should have aborted the landing.
Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the engine mounts. The pilot reported that there were no mechanical malfunctions or failures that would have precluded normal operation.
