A solo student pilot's aircraft sustained substantial damage to its left wing after striking a taxiway sign while attempting to follow tower instructions to exit the runway.

Incident Description

During the landing roll, a solo student pilot was instructed by the tower controller to exit the runway at taxiway "C". The pilot reported being unprepared to execute the turn at that moment but attempted to comply with the instruction. As the aircraft turned onto the taxiway, the left wing contacted a taxiway sign, resulting in substantial damage.

Pilot's Account

The student pilot stated that no mechanical issues or malfunctions were present with the aircraft prior to or during the incident. The pilot indicated that the aircraft was operating normally, and the event was solely attributed to the maneuver following the controller's instruction.

Damage Assessment
