Incident Overview
A pilot and pilot-rated passenger were landing a tailwheel-equipped airplane when the pilot reported being slightly “drug in” and failing to achieve a three-point landing. The airplane touched down firmly, then began to veer slightly side to side. As the deviation increased significantly to the right, the pilot lost directional control and initiated a go-around. However, shortly after applying power, the left wing dropped and struck the runway, prompting the pilot to abort the go-around. The airplane subsequently veered off the runway and nosed over.
