Introduction
On 21 July 2022, at approximately 19:00 local time (17:00 UTC), an Aircamper GN-1 ultralight aircraft, registration SP-SBIS, crashed at the EPBW airfield (Stara Wieś near Brzozów). The pilot was the only person on board.
Flight History
According to the report, earlier that day, around 17:00 local time, the pilot performed several taxi runs along the runway before the aircraft lifted off. After becoming airborne, the pilot continued flying at low altitude, initially in the direction of takeoff. For undetermined reasons, while executing a left turn over a wooded area, the aircraft entered a spin and collided nearly vertically with the ground.
Injuries
The pilot was found unconscious in the wreckage and was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital, where he died several hours later. The report lists one fatality and no other injuries.
Aircraft Damage
The aircraft was destroyed in the impact. The engine mount and firewall were displaced forward into the forward cockpit. Both propeller blades broke off near the hub and folded rearward. The main landing gear legs were destroyed, wing struts were bent, and the wings sustained significant structural deformation. Control continuity was maintained, but due to plastic deformation of control rods, the control surfaces could not be moved.
Probable Cause
The investigation determined that the accident likely resulted from an unintentional takeoff followed by an aerodynamic stall during a turn, leading to a spin. Contributing factors included the pilot's lack of necessary piloting skills, stress from the unplanned takeoff, and limited overall flight experience.

No safety recommendations were issued by the Polish State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation (PKBWL).
