What happened
On August 27, 2024, an accident involving an EC 1orp 120B helicopter, registered as SP-PBW, occurred at the "Aerodrom" site in Jastrząb, near Starachowice, Poland. The investigation into the circumstances of this event is currently being conducted by the State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation (PKBWL).
The investigation
The PKBWL investigation team has performed an extensive review of various technical and operational elements related to the occurrence. The scope of the investigation includes:
- Examination of the aircraft's technical and operational documentation.
- Technical analysis of the engine and airframe components.
- Review of crew-related factors.
- Evaluation of the evacuation procedures performed from the helicopter.
- Assessment of the response and actions taken by emergency services.
As of the current stage of the investigation, the research team is in the process of drafting the Final Report. The commission has notified relevant international bodies, including EASA, the EU, ICAO, and the French BEA, regarding the occurrence.
Findings
At this stage of the investigation, the PKBWL has not yet released specific findings regarding the cause of the accident. The commission is still analyzing collected materials to determine the precise sequence of events and contributing factors.
