Accident Details
On 27 August 2024, a helicopter accident occurred at the "Aerodrom" in Jastrząb/Starachowice, Poland. The helicopter involved was an EC120B with registration marks SP-PBW. The Polish State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation (PKBWL) dispatched an investigation team and issued an interim statement on 27 August 2025.
Investigation Updates
The investigation team conducted tests and examinations covering: technical and operational documentation of the helicopter; engine and airframe technical issues; crew matters; evacuation from the helicopter; and emergency services operations. On the basis of the analysis performed, the PKBWL has completed the investigative activities and is currently preparing a draft final report.
No Cause Determined Yet
At this stage of drafting the final report, no safety recommendations have been formulated, as stated by the PKBWL in accordance with EU Regulation 996/2010 and ICAO Annex 13. The team will provide detailed information on the cause and circumstances of the accident in the final report.
Notification to International Bodies
On 28 August 2024, PKBWL sent an event notification to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the European Union, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the French BEA.
