What happened
On August 6, 2024, at approximately 13:26 CDT, a Beechcraft F33A aircraft, registration N8095U, was involved in an accident near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The flight was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 for the purpose of a local sightseeing tour. The pilot was accompanied by three passengers, including two minors.
Security camera footage from the fixed base operator building at Sundance Airport (HSD) indicates that the aircraft experienced a runway excursion during the takeoff roll on runway 18. The airplane left the concrete surface to the left, striking a hay bale. Following this initial impact, the aircraft traveled across a large grass field, struck a chain-link fence, and hit several trees on private property. The impact with the trees triggered an explosion, and a post-impact fire destroyed much of the wreckage. The aircraft came to rest in an upright position.
There were 4 fatal injuries resulting from the accident; the pilot and all three passengers were killed.
