What happened
On October 4, 2025, at approximately 21:30 CDT, a Lancair 320, registration N431M, was involved in an accident near Huron, Indiana. The aircraft was being operated by B & B FLYING LLC under Part 91 regulations for a personal flight.
While cruising at 4,500 feet, the pilot reported that the engine stopped producing power without warning. In an attempt to restore power, the pilot moved the mixture control to the fully rich position, adjusted the throttle, and activated the electric fuel pump. Despite these efforts, the pilot could not maintain altitude and performed a forced landing into a group of trees. The impact with the trees resulted in the destruction of the aircraft. The pilot sustained one serious injury.
