Accident Details
On October 4, 2025, at approximately 2130 central daylight time, a Lancair 320 aircraft, registration N431M, was destroyed in an accident near Huron, Indiana. The aircraft was operated under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations as a Part 91 personal flight.
Pilot Account
The pilot reported that while cruising at 4,500 feet, the engine ceased producing power without any warning. In an attempt to restore engine power, the pilot moved the mixture control to the fully rich position, adjusted the throttle, and turned on the electric fuel pump. Despite these efforts, the pilot was unable to maintain altitude and executed a forced landing into trees. The aircraft was destroyed upon impact with the trees. The pilot sustained serious injuries.
