What happened
On October 15, 2025, at approximately 1447 Pacific daylight time, a Beech V35, registration CFETM, crashed near Austin, Nevada. The flight was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 for personal use. The pilot sustained 1 fatal injury.
According to preliminary ADS-B data, the aircraft departed West Kootenay Regional Airport (YCG) in Castlegar, British Columbia, at 0903 and arrived at Grant County International Airport (MWH) in Moses Lake, Washington, at 1003. The aircraft departed MWH at 1149, climbing to 9,300 ft msl. At 1345, the aircraft began a climb to 12,000 ft msl, maintaining an altitude between 11,100 ft and 12,400 ft msl for the rest of the flight. After turning southwest at 1414, the aircraft turned southeast at 1419. The flight track data ended approximately 7 miles northwest of the accident site, showing the aircraft at 11,100 ft msl.
An Alert Notice (ALNOT) was issued at 1331 on October 16, 2025, after family members reported the aircraft was overdue. Later that day, a private citizen searching by air located the wreckage approximately 16 miles northeast of Austin, Nevada, at an elevation of 10,195 ft msl.
Examination of the site showed the aircraft impacted mountainous terrain on the western slope of Mt. Callaghan. The debris field spanned approximately 992 ft. The main wreckage was located 574 ft from the first point of contact and came to rest inverted on the eastern slope of the mountain. All major structural components were present throughout the debris field.
