What happened
On October 21, 2025, a Raytheon Aircraft Company G58, registration N16PV, was destroyed during a business flight near Carencro, Louisiana. The aircraft departed from David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport in Houston, Texas, and was traveling toward Lafayette Regional Airport/Paul Fournet Field (LFT).
At approximately 11:01 central daylight time, the pilot contacted air traffic control to report an unspecified engine issue and requested a direct route to LFT. After receiving instructions to proceed directly to runway 11, the aircraft ceased all radio communications. Surveillance video captured the airplane entering a right spin; the audio from the recording included sounds consistent with an operating engine. The aircraft subsequently impacted the terrain, resulting in 3 fatal injuries to the pilot and two passengers.
The investigation
Post-accident examination of the aircraft's engines and systems showed that the left engine propeller blades exhibited torsional bending and twisting, which was consistent with the engine being in operation at the time of impact. The propeller blades on the right engine were relatively straight and had not been feathered. Both the left and right cockpit propeller controls were found in similar, unfeathered positions. The investigation also noted that the landing gear and wing flaps were retracted. No mechanical anomalies were found in the flight control system or both engines that would have prevented normal operation.
