Incident Overview
On the night of December 20, 2024, a Raytheon Aircraft Company C90A twin-engine turboprop, registration N438CA, sustained substantial damage during a ground collision at an airport near Honolulu, Hawaii. The accident occurred at approximately 2315 Hawaii-Aleutian standard time. The aircraft was operated by Guardian Flight LLC, doing business as Hawaii Life Flight, as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 air medical flight.
Occupants and Injuries
The flight crew consisted of a pilot-in-command in the left seat and a second-in-command pilot in the right seat. Two medical center specialty team members were also on board. All four individuals were uninjured.
Sequence of Events
According to the operator, the medical transport flight was en route from Kapiolani Medical Center to pick up a patient on a neighboring island. Shortly after starting the engines, the airplane experienced an uncommanded forward roll and subsequently struck an unoccupied, parked Raytheon Aircraft Company C90A airplane, registration N902TS, which was located across the ramp.
Damage
N438CA sustained substantial damage to the right engine firewall and engine mounts. The parked aircraft, N902TS, was also occupied and sustained damage; the report does not specify the extent of damage to the stationary airplane.
Wreckage Recovery
The wreckage of N438CA was moved to a secure location for further examination. The investigation is ongoing.
