Occurrence

On 25 September 2018, a Robinson R44 II helicopter, operated by Essential Helicopters, was en route southbound to Buttonville Municipal Airport from North Bay, Ontario. The helicopter was piloted by the sole occupant.

While approaching the airport, the helicopter encountered instrument meteorological conditions and turned northbound away from the airport. The helicopter was subsequently found substantially damaged in a bush 9 nautical miles north of the airport.
