What happened
During a nighttime cargo operation departing from Luanda-4 de Fevereiro Airport for Lucapa, the flight crew encountered significant mechanical difficulties. The captain notified air traffic control regarding a malfunction involving the number one engine, prompting instructions to perform an emergency landing back at the departure airfield.
While performing the final approach to the runway, the aircraft became uncontrollable. The plane impacted the ground in the Bairro Cazenga district, striking the area approximately 5 km before reaching the threshold of runway 25. The impact and subsequent wreckage caused the destruction of the aircraft and multiple residential buildings.
Findings
