What happened
Shortly after departing from Goma Airport for a flight destined for Kisangani, the crew of the aircraft reported an issue regarding one of the engines to air traffic control. In response to this mechanical failure, the flight was authorized to perform an emergency landing back at Goma.
During the attempt to return to the airport, the aircraft experienced a loss of altitude. The plane struck trees while flying over hilly terrain situated approximately 20 km northwest of Goma, in the vicinity of Sake. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were 6 fatalities among the occupants on board.
