Incident Overview
While executing a descent approach toward Monrovia-Roberts Airport, the flight crew communicated with air traffic control regarding emerging technical difficulties. Upon assessing the situation, the captain determined that a safe landing at the designated airfield was no longer feasible.
Emergency Response and Impact
Consequently, the pilot initiated an emergency procedure to land in an open field situated approximately 11 kilometers from the airport perimeter. During the initial contact with the ground, the aircraft sustained significant structural damage, specifically losing its undercarriage assembly. Following the impact, the airframe slid for several dozen meters before finally coming to a complete stop.
Casualties and Rescue Operations
The accident resulted in one fatality among the crew members. In the immediate aftermath of the crash, rescue teams successfully extracted nine other occupants from the wreckage.
