Accident Details
A single-engine aircraft, while operating a flight, was flying too low and deviated from its prescribed flight path by 15 kilometers to the south. The flight encountered below-minima weather conditions, with poor visibility reducing the crew's ability to navigate safely. At a height of 300 meters, the aircraft collided with the tops of trees on a hill situated southwest of Damanka, approximately 22 kilometers west of Krymsk. The collision caused the aircraft to crash; it then caught fire and was completely burnt out.
The crew consisted of a captain and a copilot. The copilot survived the accident, while the captain was killed.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined that the probable cause of the accident was poor flight preparation on the part of the crew, who decided to continue the flight despite the below-minima weather conditions.
