What happened
During a flight characterized by visibility levels below established minimums, a single-engine aircraft drifted 15 km south of its intended route. While operating at an altitude of approximately 300 meters, the plane struck treetops on a hillside situated southwest of Damanka, near Krymsk. The impact caused the aircraft to crash and subsequently ignite, resulting in a total loss of the airframe.
The accident resulted in one fatality and one survivor. The captain was killed in the crash, while the copilot survived the event.
Findings
Investigations into the accident highlighted that the crew proceeded with the flight despite encountering weather conditions that did not meet safety requirements. The primary factor contributing to the collision was inadequate flight preparation by the crew, which led to the decision to continue the mission in low-visibility conditions.
