A cargo aircraft crashed into a mountainside near Bulbukhta while operating in heavy snowfall and low visibility, resulting in one fatality.

What happened

During a transport mission from Perevoz to Bulbulkhata, an aircraft carrying supplies for the Dalne-Taiginski mine encountered severe weather conditions. The flight was operating amidst significant snowfall and visibility levels that were below established minimums.

As the flight continued toward its destination, the aircraft entered thick cloud cover. During this phase, the plane struck a rocky mountain slope at an altitude of approximately 1,400 metres. The impact occurred roughly 10 km SSW of Bulbukhta, near a peak reaching 1,439 metres. Following the collision, the wreckage caught fire and was completely destroyed by the flames.

Emergency responders were unable to access the crash site until one day after the accident. Among those on board, there were one fatality and two injuries. The crew members survived the impact with injuries, but the single passenger on the flight did not survive.
