What happened
During a nighttime approach toward Voronezh, the flight crew received reports regarding deteriorating weather conditions. Specifically, cloud bases were reported as low as 80 meters above the ground, and horizontal visibility had decreased to 1,280 meters, which fell below the required minimum visibility of 1,500 meters.
Despite these sub-minimum visibility levels, air traffic control provided clearance for the descent to continue. As the aircraft descended to an altitude of 100 meters, the crew received landing clearance. During the final stages of the approach, the plane drifted below the established glide path. The aircraft subsequently touched down approximately 300 meters past the inner marker, experienced a bounce, and ultimately struck trees located 150 meters further along the path.
Although the impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft, there were no fatalities or injuries reported among those on board.
Findings
