What happened
During an approach to runway 10 at Yakutsk-Magan Airport, the crew initiated their descent following a routine departure from the airfield. Upon reaching the runway, the aircraft made contact with the snow-covered surface, touching down slightly left of the established centerline.
As the aircraft progressed approximately 350 meters down the runway, the left main landing gear collided with a snow berm measuring between 20 and 50 cm in height. This impact caused the aircraft to deviate further to the left, resulting in a runway excursion. The aircraft eventually came to a stop in a snow-covered field adjacent to the runway. The incident resulted in severe damage to the right wing and the right main landing gear, rendering the aircraft a total loss.
Findings
- The aircraft veered off the runway after the left main gear struck a snow berm located on the runway surface.
- All 29 occupants were successfully evacuated from the aircraft without injury.
- The aircraft sustained damage beyond repair.
