Accident Overview
On the day of the accident, a pilot was the sole occupant of an aircraft performing a local agricultural spraying operation near the village of Staroye Zhookovo. While flying at a low altitude, the aircraft experienced an unexpected nose-up attitude. Subsequently, the aircraft lost height and collided with terrain in a wooded area, resulting in a post-crash fire. The pilot was killed in the accident.
Investigation Findings
The subsequent investigation determined that the trim tab had become jammed in the full up position during flight. The exact cause of the jam could not be conclusively identified because the aircraft was completely destroyed by fire. However, investigators believe that the jam was a consequence of a failure within the elevator trim control system.
