Fatal crop-spraying accident in Ryazan region

2 fatalities • Natalinka, Russia • Flight

A crop-spraying aircraft crashed during an evasive maneuver near Natalinka, resulting in the deaths of both crew members.

What happened

During a scheduled agricultural mission for the Nekrasovo state farm, an aircraft was performing crop-spraying operations within the Mikhailov district of the Ryazan region. While flying at an altitude of approximately 20 to 30 meters, the pilot-in-command attempted an aggressive left turn to prevent a collision with high-voltage powerlines.

This sudden maneuver caused the aircraft to lose necessary altitude. The plane subsequently struck a field located roughly 340 meters from the settlement of Natalinka. Upon impact, the aircraft overturned and ignited, resulting in a post-crash fire. There were two fatalities among the crew members on board.

Findings

Investigations into the accident determined that the primary factor was the loss of control during an extreme turning maneuver performed at an altitude of less than 50 meters.

Probable cause

The aircraft became uncontrollable while the pilot attempted a sharp turn at low altitude to avoid powerlines.
