Accident Overview
On a scheduled flight from Yogyakarta-Adisutjipto Airport to Makassar (Ujung Pandang), an airplane with 10 people on board crashed into Mount Bulusaraung during its descent. The mountain, which has an elevation of 5,135 feet, is located 26 kilometers northeast of Makassar-Sultan Hasanuddin Airport. The aircraft was attempting to land on Runway 21 at the time of the accident.
Impact and Wreckage
The airplane disintegrated upon impact with the mountainside. Wreckage was later found at an altitude of approximately 5,100 feet. All 10 occupants sustained fatal injuries.
Flight Path Deviation
At the time of the accident, the airplane was not following the correct approach path for a landing on Runway 21. The aircraft was descending toward the airport but deviated from the prescribed approach procedure.
Crew and Passengers
The cockpit crew consisted of pilot Andi Dahananto and co-pilot Muhammad Farhan Gunawan. Other crew members included Mr. Hariadi, Dwi Murdiono, Restu Adi Pribadi, Esther Aprilita Binarsit Sianipar, and Florencia Lolita Wibisono. The passengers were Yoga Nouval Prakoso, Ferry Irawan, and Deden Maulana.
