Accident Details
The approach to Brno was initiated while the aircraft was operating in limited visibility conditions, attributed to marginal weather. As the aircraft progressed on the final approach, it impacted the top of a hill. The aircraft subsequently crashed adjacent to a residential building located near the village of Slavkov. The location of the crash was measured to be about 6 kilometers from the threshold of runway 28. The impact resulted in the complete destruction of the aircraft.
The aircraft carried three crew members and ten passengers who were fatally injured. The other occupants of the aircraft were injured, with several individuals suffering serious injuries.
Investigation Findings
The official investigation into the accident concluded with a probable cause. It was determined that the flight crew miscalculated the aircraft's position relative to the intended approach path. Consequently, the crew initiated the descent prematurely. This premature descent caused the aircraft to descend below the minimum descent altitude established for the approach. The descent below this altitude led to the collision with the hill.
