What happened
The incident occurred shortly after the twin engine aircraft departed from RAF Carew Cheriton. While in the initial climb phase of flight, the aircraft collided with an RAF Fairey Battle registered N2050. Following the impact, the aircraft entered an uncontrolled descent and struck the ground, where it burst into flames.
At the time of the accident, the aircraft was conducting a supply mission on behalf of the Royal Dutch Navy. The occupants included two RAF officers and three Dutch officers. Both British officers were killed in the crash, while all three other occupants sustained slight injuries.
