What happened
The incident occurred while the pilot was undertaking his first solo flight at RAF Little Rissington. After completing several circuits around the airbase, the pilot initiated the return to land. During the final approach phase, he lost control of the aircraft. The plane subsequently crashed and was engulfed in a large fireball. The sole occupant, the pilot, was killed in the accident.
