What happened
The incident involved a twin-engine aircraft that executed an approach with an incorrect configuration. As a result of this setup error, the crew brought the airplane down on a section of the runway that was closed to operations.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft struck several obstacles on the ground. The impact caused the undercarriage to be lost, and the plane eventually came to rest in a damaged state. Although the structure was compromised significantly, the occupants were not injured during the event.
Findings
The official investigation identified two primary factors contributing to the accident. The immediate cause was the wrong approach configuration used by the flight deck. Additionally, the review highlighted that there was poor flight preparation on the part of the crew prior to the maneuver.
