Incident Overview
On the morning of the accident, a twin-engine aircraft departed San Cristóbal de Las Casas at approximately 0920 local time on a flight to Yajalón. While approaching Yajalón Airport, the airplane collided with a second aircraft, an Avro Anson registered XB-YUB. The Anson was also operated by Servicios Aéreos de Chiapas and was inbound from Tuxtla Gutiérrez, carrying nine passengers and a crew of two.
Collision and Crash
Following the collision, both aircraft dove into the ground and crashed in a prairie. All 17 occupants on both aircraft were killed. The exact circumstances of the collision remain unclear.
