What happened
During the landing phase on runway 07 at Roatán-Juan Manuel Gálvez Airport, the aircraft's right main landing gear suffered a structural failure. As the plane touched down, the collapse of the gear caused the aircraft to lose directional control, leading it to veer toward the right side of the runway.
The movement off the paved surface continued until the plane came to a stop in a grassy area situated approximately 30 metres away from the edge of the runway. Despite the excursion from the runway, all 20 occupants on board were able to evacuate the aircraft without injury.
Findings
- The primary factor in the excursion was the collapse of the right main gear during the landing roll.
