What happened

Shortly after sunset, a twin-engine airplane departed from Runway 07 at Roatán-Juan Manuel Gálvez Airport. During the initial climb phase of the flight, the aircraft experienced an uncontrolled descent. The plane impacted the surface of the sea approximately one kilometer away from the coastline.

Of the individuals on board, twelve fatalities were recorded, while five passengers and crew members were successfully rescued from the wreckage.
