What happened

On a scheduled medical evacuation flight from Sapporo-Okadama Airport to Hakodate, a Beechcraft LR-2 Hayabusa crashed into terrain. The flight, which was carrying two medical professionals and two crew members, was operating under challenging meteorological conditions. As the aircraft was descending through 3,000 feet, the flight encountered heavy rain and low cloud cover.

During this descent, the aircraft, registered 23057 (also identified as JG-3057), struck a mountain slope in the vicinity of Assabu. The impact occurred approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Hakodate Airport. The force of the collision caused the aircraft to break apart. There were four fatalities and no survivors among the occupants.
