A cargo aircraft crashed into a mountainside near Kathmandu, resulting in the deaths of all five crew members on board.

What happened

A cargo flight operating from Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport toward Sharjah, via New Delhi, crashed shortly after departure. The aircraft was transporting 21 tons of woolen carpets at the time of the accident. Following takeoff from runway 20, the aircraft began its climb; however, the crew did not maintain sufficient altitude during the ascent.

During the climb, the aircraft collided with the slope of Mt Champadevi, situated approximately 11 km southwest of the airport. The impact caused the aircraft to disintegrate. There were five fatalities among the crew members, with no survivors reported.
