What happened
A flight operated from Krasnoyarsk-Yemilianovo Airport was traveling toward Osh, Kyrgyzstan, during the night. During the initial transit, the crew received notification that fog had rendered landing at the intended destination impossible. Consequently, the pilot diverted the aircraft to Bishkek-Manas Airport, where the plane arrived safely at 05:20 local time.
Approximately ninety minutes after the diversion, the crew attempted a second approach to Osh, as weather conditions appeared to be improving. However, during the approach, vertical visibility had dropped to only 130 feet. The aircraft struck the surface of runway 12 with significant force. The impact caused the left main landing gear to separate from the airframe. Following the strike, the plane slid along the runway and overran the end of the strip, eventually coming to a stop in a field located 529 meters beyond the runway threshold. During the excursion, the aircraft struck various obstacles, resulting in the left engine detaching and the destruction of the right engine.
Findings
All 154 occupants were successfully evacuated from the wreckage. The incident resulted in 10 injuries, with six of those passengers classified as being seriously injured. The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
