What happened
A scheduled flight traveling from Djibouti to Mogadishu, which included planned stops in Hargeisa and Garowe, experienced an incident during its arrival at Garowe Airport. While performing a short final approach to Runway 06, the aircraft lost necessary altitude and struck the concrete ground surface just before reaching the runway threshold.
The impact caused the right main landing gear to collapse. Following the initial contact, the plane slid along the runway surface before veering toward the right. The movement continued until the right engine cowling made contact with the runway, at which point the vehicle came to a halt. There were 39 occupants on board, consisting of 31 passengers and 8 crew members. All individuals managed to evacuate the aircraft without injury.
Findings
The aircraft sustained damage that was determined to be beyond repair. The primary factor in the accident was the loss of altitude during the final approach phase of the flight.
