What happened
The aircraft departed Bahrain with the intention of flying to Singapore for a crew transfer. Prior to departure, local individuals refueled the plane using portable containers. Shortly after takeoff, the port engine began to fail, causing the aircraft to lose altitude rapidly. Unable to regain height or reach an airfield, the pilot executed a crash landing in a desert region approximately 10 miles southwest of Doha. The impact resulted in damage beyond repair, but all three crew members escaped the wreckage uninjured.
Findings
Investigations into the incident revealed that the engine failure was caused by fuel contamination. It was determined that water had been present in the fuel supply. Specifically, one of the cans used during the local refueling process contained water, which compromised the engine's performance immediately after takeoff.
