What happened
On a scheduled cargo flight from Mahdia Airport, an aircraft operated by an unnamed carrier departed at 11:42 local time, destined for Karisparu Airfield. The flight was expected to last approximately 18 minutes, with a planned arrival time of 12:00. Shortly after takeoff, communication with the pilot was lost.
Following the loss of contact, search and rescue operations were launched to locate the plane in the dense jungle of Region Eight. Despite intensive efforts, the aircraft and its two crew members—consisting of a pilot and a loadmaster—could not be located. After the critical 72-hour window for finding survivors passed without success, authorities continued the search through late December. On January 4, 2015, all search and rescue operations were officially terminated because no wreckage or signs of the crew had been discovered.
Findings
No specific cause for the disappearance was determined, as the aircraft and its occupants remained missing following the conclusion of the search.
