What happened
Shortly after departing from Bogotá-Guaymaral Airport, an ambulance flight experienced an unforeseen emergency. During the initial climb, the crew declared an emergency situation. In an effort to perform an emergency landing, the aircraft's nose pitched downward, leading to a crash into hilly and densely forested terrain. The accident occurred in the Yerbabuena area, situated approximately 10 km northeast of the departure airfield.
The flight was operating a medical mission destined for La Macarena. On board were two pilots and a medical staff. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. While the crash was severe, there were four injuries reported among the occupants, with no fatalities recorded.
Findings
Following the departure from Guaymaral Airport, the aircraft entered a descent phase that led to the impact with the ground. The sequence of events indicates that the crew's attempt to manage the emergency resulted in the aircraft striking the wooded landscape.
