What happened
During the final approach and landing phase at Huntsville Airport, the aircraft experienced a sudden mechanical failure. Specifically, the engine exploded while the airplane was on the ground. This catastrophic event immediately compromised the aircraft's controllability. The pilot was unable to maintain directional control, causing the airframe to veer off the paved runway surface. Following this deviation, the aircraft came to a stop in an uncontrolled position. Shortly after coming to rest, the structure burst into flames. The fire consumed the entire airplane, resulting in total destruction of the airframe. Fortunately, there were no casualties associated with this incident.
Findings
The official investigation identified the primary factor leading to the accident as the mechanical failure of the propulsion system. The specific cause was determined to be an engine explosion that occurred during the landing sequence.
