What happened
The incident occurred while the aircraft was operating in the airspace surrounding Barker Airfield, located within a suburb of Toronto. During this phase of flight, the pilot encountered a sudden loss of control caused by a structural failure of one wing. Following the mechanical breakdown, the plane entered an uncontrolled dive toward the terrain. The aircraft impacted the ground and came to rest in a crash site, where the sole occupant was killed.
Findings
Investigations into the event identified the primary contributing factor as the wing failure. This structural compromise led directly to the loss of aerodynamic control, which made it impossible for the pilot to maintain flight path or altitude, ultimately resulting in the fatal impact with the ground.
