What happened
During a flight from Palembang to Jakarta, an aircraft experienced a mechanical failure of its right engine while cruising at 9,500 feet. Following the loss of power, the crew found it impossible to sustain the required flight altitude. In an attempt to reduce the weight of the aircraft and assist with the descent, the crew released luggage and cargo from the plane. Despite these efforts, the aircraft continued to lose altitude. The crew eventually performed an emergency ditching in Banten Bay, a few kilometers away from the coastline.
