What happened

During a repositioning flight originating from Bethel, a single-engine airplane was performing an approach to Saint Mary's Airport. The flight was being conducted under marginal weather conditions at the time of the incident. As the aircraft was on short final approach, it impacted the ground approximately 800 metres before reaching the runway. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft.
