What happened

Roughly 15 minutes into the flight, the pilot experienced mechanical difficulties related to the engine. Due to these engine problems, the pilot decided to perform an emergency ditching. The aircraft went down in shallow water, approximately 4 miles south of High Bluff, in an area where the depth was roughly 5 feet.
