What happened
A special flight operated by the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) was departing from Kamonia for Kamako when the accident occurred. The aircraft, a single-engine plane, was carrying two pilots and three passengers at the time of the incident.
As the aircraft was performing its takeoff roll on runway 34, the pilot-in-command initiated the rotation. However, the aircraft struggled to achieve sufficient altitude. During the climb attempt, the nose gear and the cargo pod struck an embankment situated at the edge of the runway. The impact caused the aircraft to flip, eventually coming to a halt in an inverted position.
Despite the destruction of the single-engine aircraft, all five people on board managed to exit the wreckage. There were minor injuries reported among the crew and passengers, but no fatalities occurred.
Findings
The accident was characterized by the aircraft's inability to maintain lift following rotation, leading to a collision with terrain at the runway extremity.
