What happened
A ferry flight operated from Porlamar-Del Caribe-General en Jefe Santiago Mariño Airport toward Caracas-Oscar Machado Zuloaga Airport experienced an incident during the initial climb phase. Shortly after departing the runway, the crew identified unspecified technical issues, prompting air traffic control to authorize an emergency return to the departure airport.
Upon returning to Porlamar, the aircraft touched down on the runway; however, the crew was unable to decelerate the plane within the available runway length. The aircraft type overran the pavement, resulting in the separation of the undercarriage. The impact and subsequent movement caused the aircraft to catch fire, which resulted in the partial destruction of the airframe.
Findings
The incident resulted in two injuries, with both pilots sustaining serious burns and other trauma. The primary factor in the accident was the inability to stop the aircraft on the runway following the emergency landing attempt.
