What happened
During a scheduled training session at Corpus Christi Airport, an aircraft experienced a runway excursion while attempting to land on runway 10R. The flight was being conducted under conditions of limited visibility caused by heavy fog. As the plane approached the runway, it made contact with the surface with significant force.
Immediately following this hard touchdown, the pilot lost control of the aircraft. The plane drifted away from the center of the runway and exited the paved surface before coming to a complete stop.
Findings
- There were zero fatalities among the occupants, as all eight crew members were able to exit the aircraft without injury.
- While the passengers and crew escaped safely, the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it beyond repair.
- The primary factor contributing to the loss of control was the hard landing performed during the approach in low-visibility conditions.
