What happened
The incident occurred during the descent phase of a flight into Palmale. While approaching the destination, the aircraft was flying at an altitude that was insufficient for safe terrain clearance. The machine subsequently collided with the slope of Mt Pallet, which is situated roughly twenty miles southeast of Palmdale. At the moment of impact, the aircraft was at a height of 7,300 feet. All four individuals on board were killed in the accident.
Findings
Official investigations determined that the crew was approaching Palmdale at an altitude that was too low for the conditions. The specific reason why the aircraft was at this unsafe altitude remains unknown.
