What happened
During a flight departing from Campina Grande Airport, the crew encountered an unforeseen complication immediately following takeoff. In response to the developing situation, the captain initiated an emergency procedure to return to the airfield for a controlled landing.
As the aircraft approached the runway, it failed to maintain proper gear extension, leading to a belly landing on the tarmac. The aircraft type slid along the runway surface for a short distance before coming to a complete stop. Although the impact caused the airframe to be declared a total loss due to damage beyond repair, there were no casualties among the 49 occupants, all of whom were evacuated from the vessel without injury.
Findings
Preliminary observations suggest that the incident was driven by a technical failure involving the undercarriage during the transition from takeoff to climb.
