What happened
The incident occurred during a scheduled flight traveling from La Ceiba to Tegucigalpa. While en route, the aircraft impacted the slope of a mountain situated near La Masica, which is located approximately 29 km southwest of the departure point. Because the airplane did not arrive at its intended destination, search and rescue operations were immediately initiated to locate the missing aircraft and personnel.
However, these efforts were eventually suspended after several days had passed without any trace of the plane or the crew being found. The wreckage was not located until March 1999, when it was spotted near the La Masica Pass.
