What happened
During an approach to Basra Airport, the flight crew encountered significantly reduced visibility caused by an active sandstorm. While attempting to navigate the difficult weather conditions, the aircraft lost control and impacted a field situated a few kilometers short of the runway.
The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were seven fatalities among the occupants of the plane, including several high-ranking government officials present on the flight.
